Visiting the San Diego Zoo is a treat for the young or not so young. The zoo covers over 100 acres and has over 4,000 animals of more than 800 species. They are one of the few in the world that houses the giant panda.
You can walk through the zoo, take a guided tour bus (covers 75% of the park) use the overhead gondola lift called the Skyfari or if you are handicapped they offer scooters for a fee.
The exhibits are designed around a particular group of animals. There are several different animals but are usually found together in the wild. The plant life for each habitat is included with the animals. Most exhibits are natural with invisible wires or darkened blinds (to view birds) and large pools or moats (for large animals).
Monkey Trails replaced Monkey Yard recently. Monkeys are the highlight of this exhibit but many other animals and birds can be seen along the trail. One is the clouded leopard that is also seen in one of the Zoo’s shows “Wild Ones”. The Panda Research Station houses the giant panda and cubs born from them.
A visit to the Zoo is a must if you are in
