Hazards of Smoking Cigars

Cigars cause cancer and other problems for the heart, lungs and circulatory systems.  In some instance, one cigar can have as much nicotine as 20 cigarettes.  Addiction to nicotine is just as likely with cigars as with chewing or cigarettes.

Cigar smoking is linked with all cancers of the mouth, throat, larynx, esophagus as well as a breathing condition called chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) as well as pancreatic, bladder and stomach cancers.   It also helps to decay your teeth and cause loss of teeth. Cigars smoke contains more toxic and cancer causing compounds then cigarettes.  Due to the wrapping of cigars and fermentation of the tobacco that is in the wrapping, cigars have a higher concentration of some of the most potent cancer-causing chemicals known.   Because a cigar does not burn completely it has higher concentrations of nitrogen oxides, ammonia tar and carbon monoxide.

Cigar smoking is known to increase the risk of respiratory diseases such as emphysema and chronic bronchitis.  Smoking is a major risk factor for peripheral vascular disease which narrows the blood vessels that carry blood to the leg and arm muscles.

When you smoke or chew tobacco the smell in your mouth is terrible.  Anyone who does not smoke is offended just by the smell.  The smoke gets on and into everything around you such as curtains, walls and furniture.  It turns your teeth an ugly yellow which is almost impossible to get off and if you want to kiss someone who is a non=smoker forget it.  All in all if you can stop this disgusting habit, you will be healthier and others around you will be happier.
