The Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty is a symbol to all of us of friendship, freedom and our willingness to help those in need.   It was dedicated in October of 1886 and has remained at its present site since that day.  It has only been closed for restoration and after the attack of 9/112001.  Lady Liberty is the first or last symbol of the United States visible when entering or leaving the New York Harbor.  For many immigrants it is the symbol of a new life.  This website http://www.newyorkstyleliving.com/2009/05/22/the-statue-of-liberty.html tells you much more about the monument, how it was built and how it came to be.
