Poker is a card game where the players bet money into the pot. The player with the winning hand wins all the money in the pot. There are several variations of the game, but all involve making the best hand out of the five cards you have, and betting that your hand is the best.
The hands, in ascending order of value are: high card, pair, two pair, three-of-a-kind, straight, flush, full house, four-of-a-kind, straight flush and royal flush. Pairs are two cards of the same rank, while four-of-a-kind is four cards of the same rank. A full house is a hand with three-of-a-kind and one pair. A flush is five cards of the same suit, with a straight flush being five cards of the same suit in order. A royal flush is five cards of the same suit that are the 9, 10, J, Q, and K. A straight is five cards of any suit in numerical order.
In Five Card Draw, each player is dealt five cards, then each player places a bet. Each player then has the option of returning up to three cards to the stack and getting that many new cards in return. Betting is again done, then players can call, raise, or fold, depending on their hands. The betting goes around until no one is willing to raise the bet any further. The players then show their hands and the best hand wins all the money in the pot.
