Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less

Drilling for oil in America is an issue that requires the judgment of mature adults concerned only with finding solutions to a very real problem. Emotions and political partisan zeal should be set aside. Newt Gingrich, a former speaker of the House of Representatives and current environmental and economic activist, has written a book called Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less. The book deals with the most pressing problem to face civilization in history. The case for producing our own petroleum energy is laid out with logical and factual precision for all to see.

The book can be summed up by its title. “Drill here” means drill where we know there is retrievable oil. Even if some senator can’t lay on the beach and pretend the world is new because on a clear day, he can perceive the outline of a drilling platform on the horizon. “Drill now” means assign leases based on strict time lines that require modern drilling techniques that can oil flowing within two years. It also means that environmental and habitat law suits can not stop drilling until the complaint is proven. Simply suggesting a problem won’t stop anything.

“Pay less” means the price of fuel will drop like a rock. It is obvious to even the most casual observer that the price of transportation fuel is completely artificial. It we produce our own oil, the price of imported oil will drop because the US is the world’s largest market for the product. China is trying to out do us and we should let them.
