Nintendo produces brain games that are advertised to help stimulate your thinking, and in some situations make kids smarter. They make these games in counterpart to all of the action and sports games they release.
There are several mind stimulating games that they have released. There is Brain Age and this past year brought Brain Age 2. Brain Age was inspired by the words of a Japanese neuroscientist who believes the mind should be exercised. This should be done through simple problems, fun activities and even some competition. Brain Age fulfills this mental quest with activities like math, word scrambles, drawing and other similar games. Brain Age 2 has all the features of Brain Age with additional features like piano player, calendar, word count, and other mental challenging upgrades. Unlike other games which require you to play the first game to understand the following sequels, it is not necessary with the Brain Age games. You can play either game first, because the activities are original to each game.
Nintendo has marketed these two games as their primary brain games for the DS, but they also have a couple other ones you can play if you are not interested in Brain Age, or you may have finished them both already. One of the other popular games is Big Brain Academy. The concept of the game is to quiz you in five different categories and work yourself through the academy. The game is set up in a way to stimulate your mind during the quizzes. The other game Nintendo is marketing now, but is yet to be released, is Ultimate Brain Games.
