Emily Loring was a wonderful gifted writer of American romance books. She was born in 1864 in Boston, Massachusetts and began writing at the age of fifty. Selling over a million copies of her thirty books before her death in 1951 was a rare feat. Enough transcripts were left unfinished that her sons hired a ghost writer, used her name, and published twenty additional books.
I have her entire collection, all fifty, of her books. They are so enjoyable that I have read many of them more than once. She combines love, suspense, glamour, marriage and the American spirit within the pages. The heroes and heroines come to life and you become part of the book. Plots contain action, adventure, emotions and drama.. Heroines usually start out not liking the heroes or are involved with someone else. Sexual situations are never explored in detail or off-color comments excepted. It wasn’t until 1960 that she allowed the word Damn to come from the mouth of a male character. These are books about wholesome love, motherhood and the independent spirit of women. . Detail writing is one of her fortes. You can count on being able to see what the characters are wearing, seeing or experiencing. Whether its scenery, fashion or flowers, they come alive in her books
If you enjoy reading for pleasure and entertainment, then this is an author for you. She will not disappoint you.
