Americana Series by Janet Dailey

Janet Dailey is considered the #1 best selling female author in North American.

Janet Haradon was born in 1944 in Iowa.  Her older sisters would read to her and she enjoyed it so much that she had a library card at 4 years of age.  She started working at a construction company in 1963 where she met and later married Bill Dailey.  She enjoyed reading romance novels and felt she could write one better than those she read.  In 1974 Bill Dailey challenged her to start writing and prove her assertions.

Her first novel was published by Harlequin in 1974.  Up to this point no American author has written romance books about the individual states.  She continued until she had one book written for each state.    She has been recognized by the Guinness World Book of Records for this feat.   In 1979 she made the transition to single title romance books, Touch the Wind being her first.  A great book, it holds your interest with scenes involving adventure and romance.   Many of her books have been converted into movies.
