Drill Here by Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich is the author of the popular political book “Drill Here, Drill Now, Pay Less: A Handbook for Slashing Gas Prices and Solving Our Energy Crisis.” The co-author of the book is Vince Haley. Gingrich was a Speaker of the House and a Fox News analyst. In his book he talks about gas prices and our dependence on foreign oil. His previous book was “Real Change,” in which he talks about reserving energy.

Gingrich talks about how a change in American oil dependency will help scientists, engineers, entrepreneurs, Congress and everyday people benefit. He talks about how gas prices do not just affect you every time you fill up your car. Gas prices affect many more things from airline tickets to heating your home to making food more expensive.

There are seven chapters in his book explaining that America should drill for oil. It talks about how the Artificial Energy Crisis did not have to happen and how we have the power to be an energy powerhouse. We can protect our environment and produce energy at the very same time. It also explains to citizens what they can do to help the process move along.
Congress keeps putting the blame on other people and other things for raising gas prices. Gingrich has an answer about keeping prices down. His strategy is to open drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, northern Alaska and the Rockies. He thinks this would lower gas prices for the long term.

This book is very political and does not convince everyone. Some people believe it would work and others do not. Even still, it is a good read.
