On the top of the list of popular political books you must put Bob Woodard’s “Plan of Attack.” Woodard goes inside the Whitehouse planning of the war in Iraq. The story centers on President George Bush, Vice President Richard Cheney, Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld and Secretary of State Colin Powell. The premise is that President Bush and his close advisers were determined to invade Iraq whether irrefutable evidence of mass destruction was found or not. It uncovers who was for the invasion and who had their reservations.
Another popular political book is Ann Coulter’s “Guilty: Liberal Victims and Their Assault on America.” Coulter stands in the defense of the Republicans and Fox News who she feels are being attacked by the liberal media. Her take on the liberals is unique as always. She claims the liberals have reversed the Christ story. He died for our sins, but the liberals make the rest suffer for sins they did not commit. She calls the liberal’s Republican Attack Machine just another one of the big lies.
Newt Gingrich’s “Real Change” is an upbeat, positive political book. He shows how we can have less governmental control with more positive communication between the state and federal government. Gingrich points out that the country is united on the important major issues like immigration, defending American and freedom of religion. We are not a country of red states and blue states. The grass roots of American have the same values and standards that this great country was founded on. One of his solutions is for elected officials to drop their own personal agendas and follow the needs and desires of the people they represent.
